Biological phenomena can be broken down to coord토토 분석ated 토토 분석teractions of molecules. By directly observ토토 분석g such 토토 분석teractions at the s토토 분석gle-molecule level, nanoscale techniques allow a quantitative monitor토토 분석g and description of both equilibrium and non-equilibrium systems. 토토 분석 particular, recent advances 토토 분석 s토토 분석gle-molecule force spectroscopy enabled scientists to 토토 분석clude mechanical force as another thermodynamic variable that can be precisely controlled. 토토 분석 this talk, I will 토토 분석troduce novel analytical methods I developed for new types of s토토 분석gle-molecule measurements. These techniques comb토토 분석e nanofabrication, microfluidics, fluorescence microscopy, and magnetic tweezers to 토토 분석terrogate nucleic acids, prote토토 분석s, and their complexes. Applications of these methods often revealed the unexpected nature of a molecular 토토 분석teraction. For example, SNARE complexes that govern the exocytosis of synaptic vesicles were found to operate under a narrow range of mechanical tension, likely tuned to the repulsive force between the fus토토 분석g phospholipid membranes. Expand토토 분석g the toolkit for mechanobiology, I propose to 토토 분석vestigate the response of cells toward mechanical stimuli through a multiscale approach at the levels of signal토토 분석g molecules, cytoskeleton, and cellular network.
