• 스포츠 토토 판매점보고서 및 학업성적을 종합적으로 검토하여 우수하다고 판단된 응시자에 대해서는 구술시험이 면제됨.

Announcement on Physics Department PhD Qualifying Exam

 1. Exam Format: Evaluation of a research report followed by an oral exam

2. Exam Areas:

- Knowledge required for thesis research (based on the research report submitted by the applicant)

- Knowledge of the core graduate level subjects(Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Mechanics & Statistical Mechanics)

3. Exam Details:

• Evaluation of research report
  • All applicants must submit a research report on one of the topics suggested by the Q.E. Committee.
  • The list of topics for the research reportwill be announced at9:00 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2011.
  • Q.E. application deadline: Submit an application form to the department office byWednesday, December 28, 2011(Once submitted, the topic for the research report cannot be changed.)
  • Research report deadline: Submit to the department office bynoon on Monday, January 2, 2012
  • Oral exam
    • Date: Monday, January 9, 2012
    • All applicants must take an oral exam unless they are exempted from it.
    • Make an oral presentation on the submitted research report(15-20 minutes).
• A question and answer session will follow to test the applicant’s understanding of the core graduate level subjects related to his/her research topic (15-30 minutes).

Additional Information:

-  Research report

• The research report must be written using the standard format for the journalSae Mulliand must not exceed 6 pages.
• Submit 5 copies of the research report.

-  Exemption from the oral exam

• Applicants whose research report and course grades are judged to be outstanding may be exempted from the oral exam.
• The list of the applicants who are exempted from the oral exam will be announced onFriday, January 6, 2012.

-  For more information, refer to the attached Q.E. policy of POSTECH Physics Department (amended on March 15, 2011).

Research reports will not be accepted after the deadline. Applicants who submit research reports after the deadline will be considered not to have applied for the Q.E.
