1. 박사자격시험 전형방법: 논문토토 분석 소양 심사 및 구술시험

2. 박사자격시험 내용 및 과목:

- 논문토토 분석 소양 심사 (토토 분석보고서 제출)

- 대학원 기본과목의 기초지식 심사 (양자, 전자기, 역학, 통계)

3. 박사자격시험 형식

• 논문토토 분석 소양 심사
  • 응시자 전원은 제시된 토토 분석주제 중에서 하나를 선택하여 토토 분석보고서를 제출해야 한다.
  • 토토 분석보고서 주제: 2010년 12월 17일(금) 오전 9시에 공고 예정.
  • 박사자격시험 응시신청서 제출: 응시자는2010년 12월 28일(화)까지 토토 분석주제를 선정하여 응시신청서를 학과사무실로 제출하여야 함. (제출한 토토 분석주제는 변경할 수 없음.)
  • 토토 분석보고서 제출: 2010년 12월 31일(금)정오까지 학과사무실로 제출.
• 구술시험
  • 구술 시험 일시:  2011년 1월 6일(목)
  • 구술시험 면제에 해당하지 않는 응시자
  • 토토 분석보고서 요약 발표 (15분~20분)
  • 토토 분석주제와 연관된 대학원 기본과목 이해력에 관한 구술심사 (15분~30분)

참고사항:

○  토토 분석보고서

• 토토 분석보고서는 반드시새토토 분석의 논문형식에 맞추어 6쪽 이내로 작성하여야 한다.
• 토토 분석보고서는 5부를 제출한다.

○  구술시험의 면제

• 토토 분석보고서 및 학업성적을 종합적으로 검토하여 우수하다고 판단된 응시자에 대해서는 구술시험이 면제됨.
• 구술시험 면제자 및 해당자는2011년 1월 3일(월)에 시험일정과 함께 공고할 예정.

○  기타 사항은 포항공과대학교 토토 분석학과 박사자격시험 규정 (2008년 8월 18일 개정)을 참조할 것.

토토 분석보고서 제출마감 일시를 넘긴 경우 박사자격시험에 응시하지 않은 것으로 간주함.

Announcement on Physics Department PhD Qualifying Exam

1. Exam Format: Evaluation of a research report followed by an oral exam

2. Exam Areas:

- Knowledge required for thesis research (based on the research report submitted by the applicant)

- Knowledge of the core graduate level subjects (Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Mechanics & Statistical Mechanics)

3. Exam Details:

• Evaluation of research report
  • All applicants must submit a research report on one of the topics suggested by the Q.E. Committee.
  • The list of topics for the research reportwill be announced at9:00 am on Friday, December 17, 2010.
  • Q.E. application deadline: Submit an application form to the department office byTuesday, December 28, 2010(Once submitted, the topic for the research report cannot be changed.)
  • Research report deadline: Submit to the department office bynoon on Friday, December 31, 2010
• Oral exam
  • Date: Thursday, January 6, 2011
  • All applicants must take an oral exam unless they are exempted from it.
  • Make an oral presentation on the submitted research report(15-20 minutes).
  • A question and answer session will follow to test the applicant’s understanding of the core graduate level subjects related to his/her research topic (15-30 minutes).

Additional Information:

□  Research report

• The research report must be written using the standard format for the journalSae Mulliand must not exceed 6 pages.
• Submit 5 copies of the research report.

□  Exemption from the oral exam

• Applicants whose research report and course grades are judged to be outstanding may be exempted from the oral exam.
• The list of the applicants who are exempted from the oral exam will be announced onMonday, January 3, 2011.

□  For more information, refer to the attached Q.E. policy of POSTECH Physics Department (amended on August 18, 2008).

Research reports will not be accepted after the deadline. Applicants who submit research reports after the deadline will be considered not to have applied for the Q.E.
