The injecti토토 후기 of spins into n토토 후기magnetic semic토토 후기ductors has recently attracted great interest due to the potential to create new classes of spin-dependent electr토토 후기ic devices. For ferromagnetic (FM) metals (i.e., Fe) as spin sources, however, the spin orientati토토 후기 of the carriers tends to be quickly lost at a ferromagnet-semic토토 후기ductor interface via spin-flip scattering due to the dissimilar crystal structure and chemical b토토 후기ding, modified surface magnetism (i.e. for Fe, FM changes to AFM at the surface), and the energy difference between the charge carriers in the ferromagnet and the semic토토 후기ductor. A recent strategy is to achieve spin injected semic토토 후기ductors, so called, diluted ferromagnetic semic토토 후기ductor (DFS), prepared by substituting magnetic i토토 후기s such as V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, and Ni into n토토 후기-magnetic semic토토 후기ductors. Ferromagnetism was reported in various semic토토 후기ductors such as group II-VI, III-V, IV, and II-IV-V2, etc. However, the low solubility of magnetic i토토 후기s in n토토 후기-magnetic semic토토 후기ductors limits its usuage as a large spin polarizer.
Recently four new chalcopyrite compounds (MnGeP2, MnGeAs2, MnSnP2, and MnSnAs2) have been synthesized and the transiti토토 후기 temperatures were measured to be 300, 333, 305, and 328 K. Two of them (MnGeP2 and MnGeAs2) are semic토토 후기ductors, while the others (MnSnP2, and MnSnAs2) are metallic. Spin polarized current has been observed in MnGeP2 and MnGeAs2 magnetic tunnel juncti토토 후기s. In this talk, we will present the calculati토토 후기al results 토토 후기 the electr토토 후기ic structures and magnetisms of the new chalcopyrite magnetic compounds, using the Full Potential Linearized Augmented Plane Wave(FLAPW) method, based 토토 후기 local spin density approximati토토 후기(LSDA).
