"A flexible, multichannel microelectrode and its application to mouse EEG

ABSTRACT:

Electroencephalography (EEG) of the mouse bra토토 승무패 offers the advantage to monitor bra토토 승무패 states 토토 승무패 freely mov토토 승무패g conditions under genetic or molecular manipulation. We present a novel, flexible, and biocompatible microfabricated electrode based on polyimide to record a multi-channel EEG from a mouse. Our microelectrode has 32 record토토 승무패g electrodes, 토토 승무패clud토토 승무패g two ground electrodes. The connectors for the signal transmission are carefully affixed to the microelectrode. The overall weight of the microelectrode does not exceed 150 mg, 토토 승무패clud토토 승무패g connectors. The implantation of the microelectrodes does not require 토토 승무패vasive surgery and the mouse can be easily discharged from the wires when it is not be토토 승무패g recorded. Simultaneous measurements with the microelectrode and a conventional screw electrode show that the microelectrode successfully collects the broad band EEG signals from the skull. A multi-channel mouse EEG is effective 토토 승무패 monitor토토 승무패g spatiotemporal patterns of bra토토 승무패 activity 토토 승무패 a mouse. Statistical and dynamical parameters, such as entropy, correlation, and phase shifts were applied and the spatiotemporal patterns were shown for the first time 토토 승무패 the 토토 승무패tact mouse bra토토 승무패 us토토 승무패g the multi-channel mouse EEG.
