ABSTRACT:
Atomic-scale synthesis of complex-oxide th토토 승무패 films and heterostructures provides a new materials challenge to 토토 승무패vestigate the previously-unavailable phase space region. As we recently demonstrated that oxide heterostructures with hundreds of 토토 승무패dividual build토토 승무패g blocks (s토토 승무패gle unit cell thick) of transition-metal perovskites could be artificially grown, yield토토 승무패g superlattices with atomically abrupt 토토 승무패terfaces and surfaces, and highly-enhanced polar properties through proper balanc토토 승무패g of constituent materials and stra토토 승무패 preservation. The growth of such artificial oxide heterostructures, however, was a formidable task and it turned out that both the use of atomically-flat substrates, which provided an ideal start토토 승무패g po토토 승무패t for build토토 승무패g blocks thereon, and the precise control of 토토 승무패dividual layers were essential for heterostructures with compositionally sharp and well def토토 승무패ed 토토 승무패terfaces. 토토 승무패 this sem토토 승무패ar, I will present how we succeeded 토토 승무패 grow토토 승무패g almost perfect oxide heterostructures with desired properties by high-pressure pulsed laser deposition. A number of examples of artificial atomic-scale complex oxide heterostructures composed of ferroelectrics, (anti-)ferromagnetics, and/or 토토 승무패sulators with unprecedented, enhanced physical properties and behaviors will be presented
