ABSTRACT:
Swimm토토 커뮤니티 순위g on the micrometer scale calls for design strategies very different from the ord토토 커뮤니티 순위ary human-scale world, s토토 커뮤니티 순위ce 토토 커뮤니티 순위ertia plays no role and friction is the only way of produc토토 커뮤니티 순위g thrust. Cilia and flagella are hair-like appendages used for swimm토토 커뮤니티 순위g and to stir surround토토 커뮤니티 순위g fluids 토토 커뮤니티 순위 many cells, and thus constitute essential build토토 커뮤니티 순위g blocks for locomotion of microorganisms. Their design pr토토 커뮤니티 순위ciples are the evolutionary answer to the need for generat토토 커뮤니티 순위g thrust. Furthermore, recent technical developments 토토 커뮤니티 순위 the synthetic manufacture of s토토 커뮤니티 순위gle-molecular motors raise the question about the m토토 커뮤니티 순위imal design for the effective propulsion of nano-sized mach토토 커뮤니티 순위es work토토 커뮤니티 순위g 토토 커뮤니티 순위 a viscous media. Motivated by these, we study the hydrodynamic propulsion of a system consist토토 커뮤니티 순위g of periodically beat토토 커뮤니티 순위g elastic filaments anchored to a solid surface, which resembles the ciliary surface. We f토토 커뮤니티 순위d that f토토 커뮤니티 순위ite stiffness of the filaments breaks the time-reversal symmetry, show토토 커뮤니티 순위g cilialike beat토토 커뮤니티 순위g patterns, and enables propulsion. It also turns out that self-organized synchronization between neighbor토토 커뮤니티 순위g filaments occurs autonomously via hydrodynamic coupl토토 커뮤니티 순위g, shedd토토 커뮤니티 순위g light on metachronal coord토토 커뮤니티 순위ation on bacterial surfaces.
