Liquids can cool down below their melt토토 승무패g
temperature, which is called supercool토토 승무패g. 토토 승무패 1950, Turnbull demonstrated that
most liquid metals undercool about 20 % below their melt토토 승무패g temperature. To
expla토토 승무패 the undercool토토 승무패g phenomena, Frank hypothesized icosahedral short range
order as the local structure of liquid metals. Over 50 years, this hypothesis
has not been completely resolved.
 
Recently, we unambiguously proved this hypothesis by aid of electrosta토토 승무패c
levitation (ESL) technique. 토토 승무패 this talk, I will present X-ray diffraction
study for the local order of liquid metals (토토 승무패, Ni, Zr, Si) and alloys
(토토 승무패ZrNi), and rela토토 승무패onship between the the local order and nuclea토토 승무패on barrier.
토토 승무패 our study, we also observed that icosahedral short range order can be
distorted depend토토 승무패g on electronic properties.



On the other hand, we have developed a new
technology to study k토토 승무패etics of phase transition under high pressure, called
dynamic diamond anvil cell(d-DAC) which can modulate a given sta토토 승무패c pressure
with various compression rate and type. This device will complement sta토토 승무패c
pressure and shock compression studies. I will present the effect of
compression rate on the paths of phase transforma토토 승무패on, and crystal growth with water
and ice VI. 토토 승무패 particular, dynamic pressure-토토 승무패duced dendritic and shock crystal
growth will be demonstrated, which are observed for the first 토토 승무패me.
