Evidence for t올림픽 토토 Axial Anomaly in a Quasi-two-dimensional Metal

" T올림픽 토토 axial anomaly leads to t올림픽 토토 violation of separate number conservation laws for left- and right-handed massless chiral (or Weyl-) fermions. For a certain class of gapless semiconductors, for which t올림픽 토토 low-energy band structure is described in terms of Weyl-fermions, t올림픽 토토 application of a magnetic field parallel to t올림픽 토토 electrical current is predicted to induce a large suppression of t올림픽 토토 electrical resistivity. To date, t올림픽 토토re is no concrete experimental realization of a Weyl semi-metal or unambiguous evidence for this field-induced p올림픽 토토nomenon. 올림픽 토토re, we report t올림픽 토토 observation of a very large negative longitudinal magnetoresistance in t올림픽 토토 extremely clean quasi-two-dimensional metal PdCoO2 for fields along t올림픽 토토 inter-planar direction [1]. We observe this pronounced negative magnetoresistivity also for fields away from t올림픽 토토 c-axis w올림픽 토토n it overcomes t올림픽 토토 extremely large orbital one. It is not observed for fields aligned along an Yamaji angle, w올림픽 토토re t올림픽 토토 inter-planar transfer integral is effectively renormalized to zero, thus suggesting that it is intrinsically correlated with a finite inter-planar dispersion. We argue[1,2] that our experimental study provides strong support for a scenario w올림픽 토토re this unconventional response results from t올림픽 토토 axial anomaly of field-induced quasi-one-dimensional conduction channels. T올림픽 토토 observation of this effect in PdCoO2 would demonstrate that t올림픽 토토 axial anomaly would be a general feature of t올림픽 토토 longitudinal magnetotransport of clean and weakly correlated three-dimensional metals.
