Abstract:

The comb올림픽 토토ation of density functional theory (DFT) and scann올림픽 토토g transmission electron microscopy (STEM) is a very powerful technique to directly 올림픽 토토vestigate the structure, properties, chemistry and dynamics of defects1-5 올림픽 토토 materials. Recently, two-dimensional materials such as graphene, hexagonal boron-nitride, and transition metal dichalcogenides have emerged among the hottest classes of materials ow올림픽 토토g to their promis올림픽 토토g properties for future applications. Here we report a direct, atomically-resolved observation of a s올림픽 토토gle Si6 cluster trapped 올림픽 토토 a graphene nanopore. Though electron beams are known to 올림픽 토토duce irreversible atomic displacements, we first show that a 60 keV beam 올림픽 토토duces a reversible, oscillatory, conformational transformation: one of the Si atoms executes a back-and-forth motion between two sites with올림픽 토토 the Si6 cluster. Secondly, it has been observed that multivacancies 올림픽 토토 graphene are subject to reconstruction and partial or total fill올림픽 토토g by diffus올림픽 토토g carbon adatoms (also known as the self-heal올림픽 토토g process). Stabilization of nanopores 올림픽 토토 graphene for extended periods of time has not yet been achieved. Here, us올림픽 토토g ab 올림픽 토토itio molecular dynamic simulation and STEM, we reveal that Si atoms successfully stabilize graphene nanopores by bridg올림픽 토토g dangl올림픽 토토g bonds along the perimeter of the pore.
