연제: Magnetoelectric Control in Monodomain MultiferroicThin Film Heterostructures

Abstract

The coupling between ferroelectric and ferromagnetic order parametersin multiferroic thin filmsis a fa토토 커뮤니티 순위nating prospect for fundamental 토토 커뮤니티 순위entific research and potential multifunctional device applications. Among many multiferroic materials, BiFeO3has potential for the development of novel spintronic devices as its unrivaled room-temperature multiferroic properties can be exploited in exchange-coupled magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs). Until now, the fundamental problem in implementing these devices has been that exchange interactions between BiFeO3and a ferromagnetic overlayer have been observed only in the presence ofdomain walls. We now have new evidence of anintrinsicexchange interaction betweenmonodomainBiFeO3and a cobalt ferromagnetic overlayer that is not mediated by domain walls. We have developed a quantitative understanding of the magnetoelectric properties ofmonodomainBiFeO3films using advanced synchrotron techniques (XMCD and XMLD). Such an approach would provide the basis for a deterministic and scalable device design that has been difficult in domain-wall-based approaches due to the inherent difficulty in precisely controlling domain wall formation and movement.
